USAGE
- Salicylic acid is widely used in medicine, having antiseptic, irritating and keratolytic properties;
- Used in pharmaceuticals;
- Derivatives of salicylic acid are also used in medicine (sodium salicylate), its amide (salicylamide) and acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) are used as antipyretic, anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory and painkillers;
- Due to the antiseptic action salicylic is used in the preservation of food;
- Salicylic acid is used in the production of azo dyes, fragrances (salicylic acid esters);
- For colorimetric determination of Fe and Cu, for separation of thorium from other elements.
